Saturday League
The Saturday League offers members the chance to represent the club in friendly but competitive matches against other local clubs, combining team spirit, enjoyable bowls, and a great social atmosphere.
The friendly way to play league bowls
Saturday League matches provide members with an opportunity to experience league bowls in a friendly and supportive environment. Competing against clubs from across the Mansfield and North Nottinghamshire area, these fixtures offer the chance to develop match-play skills, play on a variety of greens and gain confidence in competitive situations without the intensity often associated with higher-level leagues.
Open to all senior bowling members, the Saturday League is widely regarded as the club's entry-level league competition. While experienced players are always welcome and regularly take part, the emphasis is on enjoyment, encouragement and giving members the opportunity to represent the club. New members are particularly encouraged to get involved, with support and guidance readily available from more experienced bowlers.
As well as providing enjoyable and competitive bowling, Saturday League matches are a great social occasion, helping to strengthen friendships within the club and foster good relationships with neighbouring clubs. Whether playing at home or away, members can expect a relaxed atmosphere, plenty of camaraderie and an enjoyable afternoon of bowls.

This league brings together teams from clubs across Mansfield and the wider North Nottinghamshire area, with matches played on Saturdays throughout the season. In addition to the league programme, teams also compete in a knockout cup competition. Club teams are selected from participating members, with each side made up of three players competing against teams from the host or visiting club. Matches are typically played over 18 or 21 ends.
Each team aims to achieve the highest score on their rink, with points awarded for individual rink wins and for the highest aggregate score across all teams.
As a result, every shot counts. Even when winning or losing, teams are encouraged to score as heavily as possible, as the overall result can often be determined by the combined scores from all rinks.
Cup competitions are decided solely on the aggregate score across all teams. There are no points awarded for individual rink wins, making every shot and every end important as teams work together to achieve the highest overall score.

Members who would like to be considered for selection should contact the team captain at the start of the season, although opportunities to join the squad may arise during the year.
Teams are selected by the team captain. Depending on the team and the number of players available, selection may be based on a pre-arranged rota system or determined on a match-by-match basis, taking into account availability and current form. Team selection is entirely at the discretion of the team captain.
Should a selected player become unavailable for a match, they are asked to notify the team captain as soon as possible to allow alternative arrangements to be made.

Match details, including the location and start time, will be provided on the team sheet. Home matches are played in Mansfield, while away fixtures take place at bowls clubs throughout the North Nottinghamshire area.
